Sporting updates from Mr Finnerty…⚽️👀

First of all, I got some photos today! Like yesterday, keep an eye out in the Hull Daily Mail for a team photo and write up of the day.

Today saw the turn of our girls (mixed Year 5 and Year 6) to compete in the Hymers Invertational 7-a-side Football Tournament: the first of its kind, exclusively for girls. The rain tried its best today but it couldn't wash away the smiles and high spirits of everyone involved.

The morning (the league portion of the day) culminated in our girls finishing 7th out of 8 teams, winning 1 game and drawing 2 games, scoring 2 goals in the process with Fola and Sydney claiming 1 each. Their low finish in the league was not reflective of the incredible effort they put in during these fixtures. The highlight fixture being against Eastfield where the girls defended valiantly and earned a 0-0 draw and making them the only team to take points off Eastfield. Thus, the "if we can't win the game, let's not lose it" movement was born. Their 7th position finish resulted in the team entering the "Bowl Tournament" for the afternoon. The girls successfully navigated the quarter final, winning the game 2-1 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal time. However, the semi final game was a step too far as, after a hard fought 0-0 in normal time, the girls succumbed to a 2-0 defeat on penalties. The girls closed out proceedings with a 0-0 draw in the 3rd/4th place play off.

All day, the girls were excellent advocates for the school, representing us all with pride and showcasing all of our REACH Drivers on and off the pitch. We are very proud of you all!

I would like to extend a thank you to Hymers School again for the set up and organisation of the day: it was fantastic!

Finally, I would like to thank all of the parents and family members who came down to show your support. It was greatly appreciated!

There will be more to come after Easter. ⚽️🥅

Sporting updates from Mr Finnerty…⚽️👀

First of all, I apologise that there are no pictures attached to this post. However, keep an eye out for a team photo and write up of the day in the Hull Daily Mail. ☺️

Today saw our boys (ranging from Year 4 to Year 6) compete in the 7-a-side Hymers Invertational Football Tournament and what a day it was!

The morning (the league portion of the day) culminated in our boys finishing 5th out of 8 teams, winning 3 games and scoring 5 goals in the process with Mason scoring 3, and Jayden and Beg scoring 1 each. This resulted in the team entering the "Bowl Tournament" for the afternoon. The boys successfully navigated the quarter final, winning the game 1-0 after a lovely, sweeping move saw Jayden finish coolly into the bottom corner. However, the semi final game was a step too far as, after a hard fought 0-0 in normal time, the boys succumbed to a 3-1 defeat on penalties, before losing the 3rd/4th place play off 1-0.

All day, the boys were excellent advocates for the school, representing us all with pride and showcasing all of our REACH Drivers on and off the pitch. We are very proud of you all!

I would like to extend a thank you to Hymers School for the set up and organisation of the day: it was fantastic!

Finally, I would like to thank all of the parents, grandparents and other family members who came down to show your support. It was greatly appreciated!

Tomorrow sees the girls take centre stage. Wish them luck! ⚽️🥅
